DPPSS, stands for Direct Payment Peer Support Service. We are a free of charge support service, ran by people who receive Direct Payments and understand the challenges and stumbling blocks you might face.
How can our service support you?
We offer both 1:1 sessions and monthly group support sessions, some of our group support sessions may also have a guest speaker in attendance answering questions or sharing resources to support you with your direct payment.
Our 1:1 sessions last for 1 hour and can take place online, in person or over the phone to suit you. Once you have contacted us using our referral form we will match you to one of our Peer Supporters with expertise in the area you wish to be supported with (for example employing Personal assistants) Our Peer Supporters all receive a direct payment either for themselves, or they manage it on behalf of someone else and have done so for an extended period of time, thus are very experienced in the world of direct payments and well positioned to help you.
At our group support sessions you can meet with others who receive a Direct Payment, share any concerns or issues you are facing and find support.
At a number of support groups throughout the year we also have guest speakers sharing their knowledge in areas such as Disability Related Expenditure, Skills for Care resources for Individual employers and managing financial contributions.
